So this last week I have been taking Ethan to the gym with me and putting him the nursery there. He has done fine in the past, but this week I have had to leave early every day because of his crying! I think he does okay in the church nursery, they tell me he is fine, but maybe they are just trying to make me feel better. I dont know what to do!? But I need to figure it out because I am feeling chubby and frustrated.

Hey!
I hope you dont mind that I looked at your blog. I saw you on Robyns..Anyways I was in nursery last week and Ethan was so good! He didnt even cry at all! He really was the best one there! Kory thought he was so much fun..So it just must be the gym people are scary of something!! j/k...And by the way you are no where near chubby!!! You look great!
Oh I'm sorry, that sucks! It's probably just a phase though, I think I heard that around 18 months is when kids go through separation anxiety pretty bad. I can usually only leave Caleb in the gym nursery for about 30 minutes and then he starts to miss me. If you ever want me to watch Ethan for you though, I will! I'm sure Caleb would love having a little playmate!

Your little family is adorable! I'd have to agree that the gym nursery is probably scarier than the church nursery. I hope it all works out in the end.

He needs to be distracted better. If he cries when you leave, then bring bubbles for the caretaker to distract him with while you sneak out. If he cries later then he needs to be distracted which can be really hard, especially if there are other kids there. Something else you can do is when they bring him to you go back in there with him till he calms down and is distracted again. Then sneak out to finish your workout. If he knows you are there when you need him, then he will eventually be confident and get over this phase. Consistancy is the essential. If you leave everytime they bring him to you, then he will learn that by crying he gets to go home. It will take time but eventually he will get used to it. I used to work in daycare. It just takes time but they will adjust.
Sorry this is so long.
